Thoughts on the Boston Bombing

Adam Banner - Tuesday, May 21, 2013

With all of the talk about the Boston Marathon bombing and the resulting fallout over the past few months, I wanted to take a more in-depth look at the way the government handled the interrogation of the suspects.

It seems as though the government, in using a little know exception to the Miranda requirements, overstepped its boundaries and failed to protect the suspects' rights as American citizens. But how does the prosecution's handling of this situation compare to that of other high-profile terrorists?

As an Oklahoma criminal defense attorney, the government's course of action is extremely troubling to me. The abuse brings to mind many "slippery-slope" arguments concerning the powers of an approaching police-state and the weaknesses of a government which continually fails to respect the document upon which it was founded.

Feel free to check out our analysis of the situation on the Huffington Post and chime in to the discussion.
